Bugail Geifr

See dates and times

Bara Caws has hit the Big 50! Just think what this remarkable company has given us as a nation over the years. The serious, the challenging, the entertainment and fun. Hours and hours of showing ourselves to ourselves, and shocking us into self-recognition from time to time.

How to respond to this? That’s up to you. But let’s try.

My own response is Y Bugail Geifr. I’ve called it a verse-drama in the form of a monologue. Its only purpose is to pay blunt, unflinching tribute to the Company from someone who has had the privilege of writing several shows for them. To say Thank You — that’s all. But in a way that asks the question: What is the beating heart of theatre? It is also a song of praise to theatre itself.

And to get Dyfan Roberts into action! One of the company’s founding fathers. It’s for the voice of a particular actor that I write these days.It is Dyfan’s voice that shines through this piece. But there are other voices too — voices that have contributed to the life of Bara Caws.

Y Bugail Geifr is full of spirits. One actor… but a multitude of individuals.

Aled Jones Williams.

Cast : Dyfan Roberts

Director : Betsan Llwyd
