Our Impact

Clued up about Theatr Clwyd?
At Theatr Clwyd our mission is to make the world a happier place one moment at a time.
We do this, not just through the world-class shows on our stages, but by supporting our communities and artists. Every week we run 25 different creative programmes reaching 500 people aged 4 to 98 as well as hosting networking and development sessions for local artists. Our reach spreads across not only our home county of Flintshire but extends to North East Wales including Wrexham, and over the border to Cheshire.
We have supported:
- 96,568 attendees for Community Activities
- 4,947 free tickets for Flintshire Residents
- 5,513 children taking part in creative engagement work each year
- 10 community hubs across Flintshire who we support with resources to enable arts provision
- 181 free bursaries giving 100% free access to arts & theatre workshops
- (34 Child Protection referrals to protect young people at risk)?
and our Theatr Clwyd Music Trust has delivered:
- 67 schools received free class tuition
- 1,900 children received that free class tuition
- Reduced the school music lesson waitlist by 38%
Our projects

Pŵer
is for young people aged 13-16 who are currently not in education, home-schooled or attend PRU. We accept referrals from lead professionals, social workers, Flintshire High Schools, PRU and the Progression Team. Through creative sessions the groups learn confidence, life skills, and make new friends. We have also recently become an Arts Award Accredited organisation and the current cohort of Pŵer will receive a Bronze Arts Award.

Fuse groups
are for those who are disabled or have additional learning needs and we run different groups depending on age range including an adult group. The groups explore lots of different experiences – from acting and dance, to music and script work, and even getting behind the scenes. We offer bursaries for these groups to ensure they can be accessed by all, regardless of household income.

Arts from the Armchair
is a referral programme via the Memory Service for people living with early on set memory loss, their carers and families. Sessions include exploring theatre-based arts, poetry, music, movement and creativity in a safe and inclusive environment.

Summer Hubs
is a programme that we run in partnership with Flintshire Social Services where we provide creative sessions in a safe and supportive environment. Young people referred to this programme are provided with a healthy meal and transport where needed.

Flintshire Six
In 2021 we identified six areas of Flintshire that ranked high in the Welsh Index of Multiple Deprivation (WIMD) within our immediate vicinity and helped set up 10 community hubs. We support these areas with resources to enable arts provision for people who would otherwise not have the opportunity.

Justice
We are proactively working in the area of social justice, having previously delivered ground-breaking programmes across primary and secondary schools with external partners, including Flintshire County Council's Social Services, and the North Wales Police and Community Trust (PACT). We are currently redeveloping these programmes to ensure that we reach the most vulnerable children at the earliest point of intervention.
These are just few examples of the projects and groups we run. Other projects include Dance for Parkinsons, Our House/TÅ· Ni (a group for LGBTQ+ young people), and offering bursaries for any of our paid for wokshops.
