Our Music Team delivers practical, hands-on music learning throughout our local community. All young people should have access to music and the opportunity to learn a musical instrument.
Theatr Clwyd Music was established in 2020 by Theatr Clwyd, adopting the council-run Flintshire Music Service to ensure that this vital community asset wasn’t lost and could grow and flourish.
Our experienced and highly skilled team teaches a range of instruments and specialisms including singing, guitar, drums, percussion, strings, woodwind, brass, harp, piano and music theory. Together we deliver work that harnesses the transformational power of music, providing creative learning and performance opportunities in both educational and community settings.
We provide instrumental tuition in individual and group settings in local primary and secondary schools. Currently tuition is provided digitally through interactive live online lessons rather than in classroom settings. Our instrumental tuition can also prepare pupils for practical music examinations where appropriate.
Ensembles and Groups
Our team provides performance opportunities within various orchestras, bands, choirs and ensembles. These groups meet at both county level as well as across a range of ages, abilities and localities within Flintshire. Rehearsals include a mixture of weekly after-school sessions, intensive rehearsal periods across weekends and school breaks, as well as regular concert opportunities throughout the year.
Beyond this, our team contributes to the theatre’s wider community engagement, and helps promote the organization as a creative artistic hub locally, as part of the expanding vision of Theatr Clwyd.
