Cello and Double Bass
How did you get into music?
I started learning the cello in a group at Primary School and after my first Clwyd Youth Orchestra Course I was completely hooked!
What has been your favourite musical experience?
The first time I played Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake with the Bolshoi Ballet. I knew all those years of practise had brought me to that point and it was a very emotional moment.
What do you like to do outside of teaching?
I perform with orchestras such as the RLPO, BBC Philharmonic, Welsh Chamber Orchestra as well as Solo and Chamber Music performances.
What is a fun fact about you?
I once nearly caused a flight to be diverted to Moscow when I was diagnosed with appendicitis after an orchestra tour of South Korea.
Do you have any ties to Flintshire?
I have lived in Flintshire all my life and was principal cello of the Clwyd, North Wales and National Youth Orchestra of Wales.
