Casglu/Gather

Casglu is a monthly space for dancers, movers and makers to get together to move, share and connect across North Wales. Casglu is a partnership between North Wales Dance Collective, and Theatr Clwyd.

These sessions are aimed at anyone with a professional dance or movement practice as well as students in full-time training.

Workshop with Meinir Siencyn

Through Wyth, a connect and flourish project with the Eisteddfod, Menter Maldwyn, Cwlwm Celtaidd and freelance partners, Meinir Siencyn will off professional dancers a Welsh clogging class. Come along to this two hour masterclass to learn steps and rhythms of welsh clogging.


Workshop with Lisa Spaull

Workshop Description
We will work with contact improvisation and improvisation techniques to warm up and feel at home within our bodies, leading to a creative movement task responding to text.

About Lisa

Lisa is a dancer, choreographer and teacher living in North Wales.

Lisa works as a harness based aerial dancer for Vertical Dance Kate Lawrence and has enjoyed performing in many of the company’s works in the UK and abroad such as France, Canada, Greenland and Bali.

Lisa has also worked as a vertical dancer with Despina Goula in Athens, Greece and with Everybody Dance performing and teaching across the UK, France and Germany. In 2022 Lisa worked as a vertical dancer for Any Stage Productions for the opening of Battersea Power Station, London.

Lisa has previously worked as a choreographer and producer for Little Light Dance and Digital Theatre Company and led the Family Dance Project for many years. Little Light’s ‘The Flying Bedroom’ show toured to theatres across Wales in 2017 was nominated for ‘Best Children’s show’ at the 2018 Wales Theatre Awards, as well Lisa being nominated for Best Choreographer.

Lisa teaches the Vertical Dance youth and adult groups at Venue Cymru and the adult sessions at Pontio ‘Lunch on the Fly’.


Workshop with Justin Melluish and Angharad Jones

About Justin:

Justin is a professional actor based in Mold. He regularly works with Hijinx and has worked with them for 8 years. His professional work includes projects such as Hidden (S4C + BBC). He is also a dancer and recently worked with choreographer, Sarah Mumford on an R+D project ‘Gorlwyth’ as well as being a dancer in ‘Galwad’. Justin is also in a band called the Sound Express.

About Angharad:

Angharad is a dance artist and full time creative associate at Theatr Clwyd. Her work includes contemporary dance, dance theatre and vertical dance performance. She is also facilitates dance projects within the community at Theatr Clwyd and creates her own work in collaboration with other artists.

Description of workshop:

In this workshop, we will look at using voice, text and movement together through improvisation, poetry and contact work. If you have a poem or short text that you like, please bring it with you!
