By donating to Theatr Clwyd you will support our work both on and off stage.
We are passionate about creating world class theatre and we are committed to supporting the future of the arts by nurturing new and emerging talent and creating innovative youth and community projects.
We are in the exceptional position of being able to create world class theatre productions starting with the seed of an idea.
Theatr Clwyd is one of only four theatres in the UK to house all our own making departments. Our costume makers, scenic artists, prop makers and set builders are able to build every element of a production from scratch.
On average our wardrobe department use 620 miles of thread every year and our scenic painters use nearly 1,600 litres of paint!
By supporting Theatr Clwyd you are helping us to continue to deliver world class theatre such as our 21st anniversary nationally toured production of Rent and our hugely popular co-production with National Theatre, Home, I’m Darling.
Through our TYFU | Grow scheme we support new and emerging talent. We ensure that opportunities are available for people to hone their craft so that they can forge on a career in the arts at the highest level.
TYFU | Grow includes our Writers in Residence scheme, providing writers with the time and space to write and the opportunity to work with other artists.
With our partners we also create apprenticeships, providing on the job training across many different aspects of the theatre including sound and lighting, set building, front of house and in administrative roles. Our apprentices learn transferable skills enabling those who choose not to pursue a career in the arts to work in other industries.
Through our youth and community projects we support many people and create positive experiences and memories that will last forever and transform lives.
We work with young people through our Creative Engagement projects. Justice in a Day, delivered in partnership with the Police and Community Trust, is our award-winning production that demonstrates to young people the negative impact of breaking the law in an interactive and memorable way.
Theatr Clwyd is at the forefront of health and wellbeing in the arts. We know that by using our skills and expertise we can create arts based projects which will help and support people in our community. One of our initiatives, Arts from the Armchair, is a collaborative project with Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board. Dementia patients and their carers are referred by their GP to Theatr Clwyd to take part in weekly workshops. It is an inspirational project for all involved, helping the participants adapt to their new circumstances, share experiences and build new memories through creative experiences in the theatre.
As a registered charity, Theatr Clwyd Trust (Registered Charity No. 1104878) is able to claim Gift Aid on your donation.
