Help restore the paint bridge

Our treasured paint bridge is in urgent need of your support.

One of only handful left in the UK, the paint bridge is an original feature of the building but is in urgent need of repair.

The bridge allows our scenic team to paint the large canvases that grace the stages at Theatr Clwyd. It has been used to create the fantastic backdrops to many of our productions during our 43 year history including the Olivier Award nominated iconic set of Home, I’m Darling.

The mechanical bridge travels up the frame so the team can paint those hard to reach places. Without it we would have to lay the canvas on the floor, stepping over it as we paint. It will cost approximately £10,000, on top of its annual maintenance, to repair the bridge and bring it to current health and safety standards. Without this work there is a real risk that the bridge will have to be taken out of service.

Please help us to restore this precious piece of equipment and as a token of our appreciation we will be publicly thanking all who help to restore the bridge. If you are able to donate £50 or more we will send you a piece of the backdrop from this year’s pantomime Jack and the Beanstalk.
