National Youth Theatre of Wales

National Youth Theatre of Wales (NYTW) is part of National Youth Arts Wales and each year, provides first-class training and performance experiences for some of Wales’ most talented and committed young people interested in theatre performance and production.

Over the years, many of their alumni have gone on to star in stage and screen or to senior roles in the creative industries in Wales and further afield. Matthew Rhys, Caroline Sheen, Ruth Jones, Rob Brydon, Eve Myles and Michael Sheen are just some of the people who had their earliest experiences as part of the NYTW ensemble. In 2019, we are delighted to be continuing our partnership with NYTW.

Who is it for?

We are looking for talented young artists, aged between 16 – 22 years who live or were born in Wales with an interest in pursuing a career in theatre. You might regularly engage in drama classes or activities through your school/college, a private drama school and/or with a local youth theatre company; or simply have a desire to understand what it’s all about. If you have an interest in  performing, directing, writing, design, technical theatre – then this residency is for you.
