Comedy Previews 2018

Our comedy preview mini-season is the perfect opportunity to see some of the best emerging and also full fledged comedy talent in the UK as they test out their new shows prior to heading to Edinburgh Fringe! We’ve put together a shortlist of the acts and why we think they’re incredibly special and absolutely worth seeing. Enjoy.

Kiri Pritchard-McLean

Wales’ very own Kiri has been a major break through performer of the last few years with appearances on Russell Howard’s Stand Up Central, BBC Radio 4’s The Now Show and The News Quiz as well as Ellis James’ State Of The Nation and our very own comedy club. She won Best Compere and Best Club Comedian at the Chortle Awards in 2018 (was nominated in 2017 and 2016 too!) and also directs and writes for Edinburgh Comedy Award and Chortle Award nominees Gein’s Family Gift Shop.

Chris Washington

Rising star Chris received a nomination for the coveted Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Newcomer with his solo stand-up hour, ‘Dream Big (Within Reason)’ – he was also Re:Play Breakthrough Comedian of the Year Winner and a finalist in the Magners New Comedy Act in 2015.

Compared to “Peter Kay for the smart phone generation” and a favourite on the live circuit he’s already supported the likes of Jason Manford and Tom Stade on tour and recently co-hosted Jason Manford’s weekend radio show for Absolute Radio.

Brennan Reece

Brennan has gigged all over the world including in Australia, New Zealand, Holland and France. He’s won several awards including English Comedian Of The Year and Sky One’s ‘Don’t Stop Me Now’, and was nominated for Best Newcomer Edinburgh Comedy Awards 2016 and Best Show Australia Fringe World 2016.

Adam Rowe

Adam Rowe started standup in 2010 and a year later was named Liverpool Comedian of the Year. In demand to play all of the UK’s biggest comedy clubs Adam recorded his first Stand-Up Special & DVD, titled “Opinionated Hypocrite”, and has his own weekly podcast “Talking Crap”. He’s recently completed a UK tour playing to huge audiences around the country.

Rob Kemp

Rob Kemp is the mastermind behind The Elvis Dead is an audio/visual mash-up concert show, telling the story of Evil Dead 2 through the classic songs of Elvis Presley, and a love letter to both. Winning both the Best Show and Best Musical awards at the Leicester Comedy Festival in 2017, it was nominated for the Edinburgh Comedy Award and also won the Comedian’s Choice Award and Amused Moose Award.

Harriet Dyer

Harriet regularly gigs all over the UK and sometimes all over Europe too. Harriet’s been on BBC Radio 4 Extra numerous times, BBC Ouch, BBC3 and is currently on iplayer with some stand-up she did that seemed to do very well and also joined Jason Manford on his absolute Radio breakfast show in 2017.

Tom Little

Tom Little won the Leicester Mercury Comedian of the Year, an award previously won by acts including Johnny Vegas, Rhod Gilbert and Jason Manford, and was also a BBC Radio New Comedy Award finalist.

Danny McLoughlin

Danny regularly performs at the UK’s biggest clubs including; The Comedy Store, The Glee clubs and Komedia, music festivals including Latitude & Leeds and is a regular MC for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards Galas. He has supported Sean Lock, Micky Flanagan, Sarah Millican & Doc Brown. Gracing our small screens Danny has also appeared on ‘One Night Stand’ for Channel Dave and the ‘Premier League Show’ for BBC Two and recently took to the radio waves to co-host one of Jason Manford’s Sunday morning shows for Absolute Radio.
